If you see this in your town you, better snatch it because it could be a your free entry and all access pass into A3C.
This past weekend Jay Shells and Mike Walbert (A3C’s Festival Director) drove around Atlanta, GA putting up more than 25 of The Rap Quotes street signs. They waited a couple days to let the signs live, before publicly announcing the project has taken place… and people have already begun to share photos on social media and discuss possible locations.
The Rap Quotes campaign started in NYC by Jay Shells has expanded to LA, Philly and now ATL. The Rap Quotes attempts to catalog all site-specific rap lyrics by installing them as street signs in the exact locations mentioned… Think Outkast’s “Elevators” opening line “One for the money, Yessir two for the show. A couple years ago on Headland & Delowe, was the start of something good…” – Andre 3000
We know we missed a lot of great quotes so PLEASE send in more Rap Quote locations and maybe we will being Jay Shells back during 2015 A3C Festival & Conference for round two… and you can meet him! [please send them here]
So far, over 75 signs have been installed in New York, 75 signs have been installed in Los Angeles and 22 have been installed in Philadelphia. All have since been stolen/removed. After Atlanta, Jay plans to visit Houston, Chicago, New Orleans & The Bay Area. All major cities in the US will be visited before the project moves over seas. If you have site-specific lyrics you think should be included in the project.
