Jaah SLT is way, way more than just a viral hit. Earlier this year, the Charlottesville rapper’s infectious single “Tuff” was unavoidable on TikTok, but Jaah managed to avoid the fate that befalls many creators of songs that blow up on the platform. He’s managed to remain relevant, and it’s easy to see why: his artistic vision is more clear and more serious than that of his contemporaries. He followed “Tuff” with a string of strong singles that revealed his versatility and penchant for crafting addicting hooks.
Last week, he dropped his debut project on Alamo Records, 9-25-20. Composed mostly of new songs, the project further explores his taste for simple, playful hooks and minimalist production. Other members of the SLT collective feature on highlights like “Hate” and “Grimey,” high energy tracks that emphasize Jaah‘s bold style. “Right Now,” which was the single that immediately proceeded the project and features Yung Nudy, shows up on 9-25-20, and the two are well-matched on this highlight track.
A lot has happened to Jaah SLT in the past few months, but this is only just the very beginning for him. He’s been releasing tracks at a break-neck pace in 2020, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in the future.
