Talk about bringing in the New Year with a bang, over this past weekend outlandish rapper Hopsin revealed to the world that he would be leaving Funk Volume, a label he helped to create and now Jerron Benton, fellow labelmate decides to follow in his footsteps.
So check it, back in 2009, Hopsin founded the independent label Funk Volume along with Damien Ritter, the older brother of SwiZz, the label’s first signee — after Hopsin. The two “business partners” have been working for about 6-7 years to build Funk Volume to what it is now, just finishing the The Growing Process tour with Dizzy Wright that went exceptionally well. However, according to a few posts here and there, via Instagram and Facebook, we are quickly alarmed of the beef between the two co-founders. Apparently, Damien has kept it real with Spin, and he’s not here for that, told him he doesn’t work hard enough and doesn’t bring enough money to the table.
Roll up and enjoy!
UPDATE: Looks like Funk Volume is really breaking up now…
