When it comes to lyricism in the rap game, artists that typically come to mind are Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, and J. Cole just to name a few in the mainstream scene. Well, let me introduce y’all to an artist by the name of LB199X, hailing from Glenarden, Maryland. LB199X has very similar traits to the artists that I mentioned earlier except that he is criminally underrated. The progressive rap that LB199X presents, sheds the light on major modern problems, becoming an activist, similar to Kendrick and Joey.

A song that I really want to shed light on is LB199X’s recent releases, complemented with a visualizer called “It Ain’t Safe,” featuring Matt McGhee. Known for his conscious and witty punchlines, LB199X has no trouble showcasing his versatility in this track, focusing on his consistency. “It Ain’t Safe,” is the second single from his upcoming LP titled STIGMA, which has me excited for this release in full. Although this is just a visualizer for the track, it has the quality that could make it an official music video as well. While busy on the road with a mini-tour, LB199X has no problem releasing music consistently as that’s what he should be known for, consistency.

LB199X is a hidden gem, reminding me of the days when I would listen to Joey Bada$$ and others while catching the bus to school on my MP3 player with songs from Limewire(lol).
