Lil Yachty - Lil Boat The Mixtape

The other day I made it out to the Rave in Milwaukee yet again for another hip-hop show. This time, if you couldn’t tell by the title, I was there for Lil Yachty’s tour.

This day was a little crazy to start out with because I realized that there was another XXL freshman playing on the same night in the same venue. Lil Dicky was opening for The Chainsmokers. Besides that, this show was a solid 10. For whatever reason, Lil Yachty was playing at the smallest stage at the Rave, with a max capacity of 400 folks. He sold it out. Of course.

The opener was Chicago based artist Jayaire Woods, who I must say had a very pleasant energy about him. We’ve posted him a few times before, but after seeing him live and seeing his artistry in person, I know for a fact that I’m going to post whatever he drops. Very talented, and even though he’s not a household name yet, he had that crowd moving. That’s a quality of a great artist.

Next up was the rest of the Sailing Team. I was very surprised to just see them all walking around the venue like normal people. You normally don’t see the artists performing jamming out in the crowd or having a beer by the bar, which really showed how humble they are as people. The energy was high and they did a killer set, and really set up a great energy in preparation for Lil Yachty.

I’m addicted to Lil Yachty, and I’m not afraid to say it. Something about his bubblegum trap vibes really drew me in, and I can’t shake loose. One of the things I noticed and liked about his performance is that he had the autotune effect on his microphone, which resonated super well with the crowd. He played a lot of music off of his newer album Summer Songs 2, and if you haven’t heard that, you’re playing yourself so hard. I was really excited to see how good of a set he put on, especially for being so young and fresh out. Check back soon, I’ll be covering Danny Brown’s show on September 24!
