5. Best Day Ever
Riding off of the success of his breakthrough mixtape K.I.D.S, Mac Miller’s Best Day Ever is all about enjoying the newly attained success that Mac craved. Proclaiming throughout the album that “This is the best day ever” helps explain how grateful he is for the success that he has achieved. This newfound success has brought critics to question his style, labelling him as a “typical white-boy frat rapper.”
However, Mac Miller didn’t try and escape from this labelling, but rather embraced it and went along with it. Despite this critique, Mac Miller’s clever wordplay and choice of production for this mixtape is solid, and subtly informs listeners of what will come in later releases for Mac.
