Manni Phantom is a multi-talented, 19-year-old artist from California, that everyone should get hip to. Despite the fact that he lacks an extensive archive of original music, his debut EP Fables certainly makes up for it. Fables tells the story of our protagonist, Manni, as he reflects on some of his external struggles: trying to make it in the music industry, women, and family (all while battling demons within). Manni gets all of the production credits for the otherworldly sound of this 6-track project, which we can argue is genre-less because of it’s eclectic approach. There is a bit of magic in Fables, that you can’t ignore. From Manni’s use of a vocoder and other effects as he sings to the screwed & chopped vibe of the latter half of “Presence,” he manages to keep your interest to the very end. I can see this guy getting signed to Drake’s OVO Sound within the next year. Stream Fables below!
