Two years after dropping their 3 song EP “Tuxedo Funk”, Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One are finally back to provide music lovers across the world, with a full album of what can be described as absolutely wonderful disco and funk music. My first time hearing about this group was yesterday by way of Twitter, and I’m extremely glad I decided to check them out. Though already familiar with both of these artists because of their respective and successful solo careers, I’m surprised this combination yielded what I’m listening to in my headphones. The two have said that 80’s disco funk was their only role model for the music this album is laced with. And after playing a few cuts, such as: Lost Lover, Tuxedo Groove, & Number One, I’ve decided that I’ll definitely be purchasing this album.
