Navy Blue has been a site favorite for some time now. Each of his releases gives me an appreciation of the lyrical dexterity he has on a record. “Ritual” is no different, and to be honest, I think this could be one of his best records. The smooth jazzy production makes for the gritty environment allowing Navy to snap for the runtime. His flows on this song remind me of Common in his prime, utilizing witty wordplay to show character and express his story.
The visual component of the drop is of Navy in a white apartment. Very minimal, but you get to see the musician in rare form. The way he is presented makes it look effortless to rap at the high caliber he does. If you say you’re a real lyricist, this should make you envious because he does it with ease.
