Detroit-native Nolan The Ninja dropped his new album, YEN, on Friday. If you want to talk about some of the better hip-hop albums to drop in 2017, YEN has got to be towards the top of your list. Dropped on DJ Soko‘s Left of Center Records, the album sees Nolan at his very best, delivering bar after bar over some crazy production from the likes of Black Milk, 14KT, Chanes, Denmark Vessey, Scud One, and Nolan himself. Track after track, Nolan highlights his lyrical prowess, but what probably sticks out the most on the album is his ability to simply rip the mic on every cut, providing high-energy performances on each song. Guest appearances include some crazy verses from L.A. mainstay Blu, Jaye Prime, fellow Left of Center signee A-Minus, Denmark Vessey and an insane feature from Detroit legend, Royce Da 5’9 on the track “Calisthenics.” This record proves that Nolan is just getting started and that he really is nobody to sleep on. Stream the album below and be on the lookout for more dope tracks from this dude in the future.
