Ola Runt‘s rise to prominence has been nothing short of chaotic. From being juggled by everyone from Gucci Mane to Young Thug to 21 Savage in a bidding war to issues with the law, Ola hasn’t been able to hit his stride in the way many expected. However, on his new project Henchmen Crime Family: Life of Sin, Ola has sharpened his sound without giving up his off-the-wall energy and menacing lyrics.
Songs like the album’s lead “Most Days” with Yung Bans and “Crime Pays” show off Ola‘s versatility and his personality is on full display. A favorite off of the project is the Chi Chi assisted cut “DWade”. The Zone 6 native’s opening line “when we slide, they gon’ die, D Wade heat on me” sounds like the coolest horror movie ever. Runt‘s ability to conjure up both snarling and creative lyrics like “n***a tried to take the sauce now he all plankton” sets this track apart from the rest.
