A few weeks ago, we conducted the third installment of our Instagram livestream contest, and after the first two, the submissions had big shoes to fill, but once again, we were not disappointed. You guys continue to prove time and time again that you know how to make fire ass songs, and I thank you for the many new additions to my personal playlists. However, for this series, we have to narrow it down to our top 5 favorite submissions based on a few different criteria:
- Different – did this submission stand out, not only from the other submissions but also from what’s hot right now?
- Potential – did this submission showcase the artist’s potential to grow into something even crazier over time?
- Hard – was that sh*t hard?
So without further ado, allow me to present you with the Top 5 submissions that have officially received the Daily Chiefers Stamp of Approval.
- Machai
After hearing this song for the first time, I knew that Machai was onto something special. His voice rides over the bubbly melody, fitting seamlessly between the extremely hard hitting 808’s, creating a sound that keeps me restarting the track each time it ends to hear it all over again. This track has the perfect balance between a hard hitting SoundCloud banger, and a melodic catchy track with mainstream appeal. Machai has proven with each release that he is extremely versatile and knows how to craft a hit, showing incredible potential with the few tracks he has out. It will only be a matter of time before you hear him on a car radio near you.
- Sane Laway
Atlanta artist Sane Laway came through and dropped off this ABSOLUTE banger, and I’m extremely glad he did. The opening 808’s reminded me to turn up my volume and to get ready to hear some extremely hard sh*t. My head was bobbing less than five seconds into the track, and I didn’t stop until the song ended. His Atlanta influenced vocals flow extremely well over the rage inspired production that is becoming extremely popular as of late, and for good reason. I put this song straight into my gym playlist, and I’ll be heading to the gym shortly after writing this to hit some PR’s to it. I can’t wait to hear what he puts out next.
- $OWDA
$OWDA comes in extremely smooth on “7 Months”, and I couldn’t think of a better track for him to make his Chiefers debut with. When I first heard this song I was blown away by his incredibly unique flow and voice that really differentiates this song and makes it stand out from a lot of the melodic tracks that I’ve heard recently. My mood was instantly uplifted, and I loved every second of this. The ukulele makes this the perfect summer song and I can’t wait to continue bumping this until I can no longer ride in the car with the windows down. If you’re not yet hip to $OWDA, tap in now.
- Rezcoast Grizz
Rezcoast Grizz does not hold back on his single “Heartbreak Hotel”. The Alt-rock leaning sound definitely stood out from other submissions, and the raw emotion in Grizz’s voice is extremely touching and is something that definitely resonated with me while listening to the track. The song invokes a bit of nostalgia within me that really ties the piece together and makes it overall an extremely enjoyable listen. Grizz demonstrates a great ability to blend genres in a way that makes his music different from a lot of things out right now.
- Jaxx
Wrapping it up with a super fire addition from Jaxx, he really came through and proves once again that he’s an artist that should be in your playlist if he’s not already. His infectious voice coupled with the fire Nick Mira produced beat really leaves me excited to hear more from the two of them. I see extreme potential for commercial success, and come on, this sh*t is just hard. This is another track that I will be bumping for the remainder of summer, and you should too.
