We here at DC pride ourselves in finding you the best up-and-coming talent the world has to offer. Enter Devin More. After hearing his most recent track “Eastway Interlude” a few weeks back, I was instantly hooked.

With a styling that sort of reminds me of a young Bryson Tiller and Amir Obe, Boston-via-Miami transplant Devin More continues to turn heads around the music industry with his insanely catchy records and unique beat selection. After releasing his lead single “Good To You” yesterday, Devin has blessed the DC family with an exclusive release of his amazing new EP titled Lost In The Darkest Matter. The luscious new EP is tracks long and features guest appearances from Vontae Thomas, Scott Supreme, Chemist, Aramis and much more.

After giving us the exclusive first listen, we sat down with the rising talent to talk about the project, his future plans, where he grew up and much more. You know the drill folks –grab something green and vibe out below. You’ll thank me later.

First off, for the people out there that still don’t know yet, let them know who you are.

I am Devin More, a 20-year-old creative. I record and produce my own work, including my EP releasing today, Lost In The Darkest Matter.

You’re from both Boston, MA and Miami, FL. Tell us the story about that and how did each place influence you?

Boston and Miami are both opposites. I give credit to Boston for influencing me and allowing me to find myself. In Boston, I had a normal childhood. I played basketball and baseball. I was really active. And at the end of middle school, I moved from Boston to Miami, which was a big change for me. Both extremes shaped the way I create music.

When did you start to take music seriously?

I’d say ever since I got into production my sophomore year of high school. I was tired of depending on other producers for beats so I just taught myself. Throughout the week, I’d upload new music and started to notice growth. I’m really glad I made that decision.

What can you tell us about your new EP?

Conceptually, every song on Lost In The Darkest Matter was made for the moment. I wanted the fans to get a feel of where I’m at now and all of the experiences up to date. The darkest matter symbolizes where I am at in terms of love, career and life in general.

What’s different about this project?

It’s short, sweet and melodic. It’s a glimpse of the new sound I’ve created and something totally different than my last project. A lot of this music is conversational and relatable to people in this generation. Most of the music is just a spark of emotions and personal thoughts.

How long did it take to record?

I started working on this project as soon as I finished my previous project Sin City. I’ve spent the last five months locked up in the studio day in and day out to get it just right. I’m a bit of a perfectionist.

Lastly, let us know what your plans are for the future?

2016 is all a modification process. I realized what I need to do and what walls I needed to break down to approach new heights both personally and professionally. My plan is to consistently deliver the fans with quality music and continue learning new things to include artistically. I think my music alone has taken me on a journey so I’ll continue to let the music steer the wheel.
