My homeboy Tombo (pronounced Tom-beau) from Milwaukee is proud to premiere his newest single “Safe With Ya.” He is one of my favorite artists, because he is so versatile. From producing, to singing, rapping, and everything in between, Tombo is your dictionary definition of a jack of all trades. He’s mostly done features, for example, on “Almond Chai Latte” with Emmett James. His style, to me, is best described as sing-rapping.
Tombo uses a lot of vocal distortions and effects in “Safe With Ya” to almost make it feel like you’re swimming in the most relaxing wave pool. His lyrics are very interpersonal, giving you a deep insight into his personal life and experiences. One of my favorite parts of this song is the hook. It goes, “I’ll stay quiet while you’re smoking loud, I’ll stay quiet while we’re smoking out.” That’s the kind of shit that sends shivers down my spine.
I talked to Tombo for a little while yesterday, and he wanted to say this: “I was damn near about to start [Safe With Ya] over but I didn’t, because I have a great, small group of friends that push me to do what I need to do.” Tombo makes some of the realest, weirdest, beautiful art I’ve experienced. Without further adieu, it is my greatest pleasure to present to you all for the first time, “Safe with Ya.”
