RIP Betty White

Another year into this debacle that we call life and it does seem like a fresh start. Not like the Febreze brothers fresh, but something damn near close. We all look at this as some sort of metaphorical chance to start over and strive for a better variation of ourselves. And I get it a new year, new you yadda yadda yadda. But maybe this is time to actually change for the better.

I title 2022 the year of executing any sort of plans or ideas because you’ve been thinking about what you need to do for long enough. We all have to do better for ourselves because time is very precious in this chaotic space. I took a bit of time off from these because I needed to handle “work” of the corporate variety. It pays the bills, but dealing with some of these folks is comparable to NPCs in the real world. But aren’t we all nonplayable roles in each other’s realm of confusion, I don’t know but here’s some new music.

K. Charles – Quarantine

K is one of the most overlooked artists, but he frequents the stages other artists would die to get on. “Quarantine” is an aptly titled cut, but the energy it conveys is wondrous, to say the least. You can hear the passion exuded from Charles’ vocals. He keeps you interested from start to finish because of that melodic prowess. With songs like “Left Right” and “Unfinished” to round out 2021, it’s looking like 2022 will be very prosperous for K Charles as well, stay tuned.

QT7 Quanny – Dog Talk

North Philly-bred Qt7QUANNY brings us his visuals for “Dog Talk” a rugged look at his no-frills approach to music. With some ominous production, we feel the stellar arrogance painting the sky with each passing cadence. QUANNY has real support from the city and the murmurs of his momentum are starting to build with every release. Unwavering blows from the auditory octagon that QUANNY calls home is what brought us here, get familiar above.

Cash Cobain – SLIZZY TIMING

Cash Cobain is one of the NYC founders when it comes to sample drill and he dropped off a new project for the world on New Year’s Eve. With the usual formula, armed and ready, Cash links with Chow Lee on some bangers atop poignant flips. Bay Swag and Baby Wick also make guest appearances on this project, but Cobain rules the lane. He is the only producer who can be put into the argument for his work from the booth as well, yet another notch in the belt. This year will only extend the gap between Cash and the rest of the pack so peep this heat above.

Retch – Gimme A Rush

One of my favorite rappers of all time is free and thank God for that. Retch doesn’t miss a step but continues to paint the legacy with “Gimme A Rush”. The formula is there on how this man cooks up, but his various eras of artistry allow the consumer to be taken through a number of stylings. It’s pretty astounding how this man can continue to have a cult-like following with the struggle of building momentum dealing with legal battles. Regardless, Retch always provides the gift of cash and gab, so peep the gas above.

S9ACECAT – Yellow Springs PT. 1

S9ACECAT is a very slept on individual and he takes us to the woods for some melding of genres. “Yellow Springs Pt.1” is a BTS formatted feature that shows CAT and his friends in the woods living the dream. His tone is expressive and vulnerable but skips across lines of what you think traditional music should sound like. Hints of Hyperpop tear at our hearts, while gentle strums of acoustic patter in. This is music unlike what you’ve heard thus far so tap into it above.
