With the sudden revival of what feels like us re-entering the late 1990s-2000s Lil’ Kim, Missy Elliott, and Ciara era over the past couple of years with GloRilla, Ice Spice, and plenty others, one of the rappers to be put in the public eye that I cannot stop listening to is Sexyy Red.
She has officially made rap fun again. I cannot remember a time when I felt so full while listening to someone scream silly phrases and carry this intense energy throughout their music.
This new one with Lancey Foux checks all my boxes off rip. As we know, our British boy is gonna show out without question; but before listening, I asked myself “Is this really gonna work?” In my dumb brain, I just assumed this was some fake 2023 bingo card shit. “Oh Emily Ratajkowski and Eric Andre are gonna date and post themselves naked? Is a submarine looking for the Titanic gonna implode upon arrival? No way.”
Basically in my head, I never would have imagined something like this would work like a pitcher hitting a home run. You know they can do it, somewhere deep down, but how likely is this to happen? Well, it’s clear that SHE HITS IT HIGH, SHE HITS IT DEEP. IT. IS. OUTTA. HERE!!!! (San Fransisco Giants commentator, Duane Kuiper’s voice) I really don’t know if we will get another collab as electric as this felt, because damn. This shit right here is incredible.
Sexyy Red will own rap by 2024. I love her so much.
