Jimi Tents might be the best rapper that New York has had to offer in 20 years. Yes, an 18-year-old emcee with only one publicly available project has made unrelenting believers out of us here at DC.
From the content of his lyrics to his flow and worldplay, Tents has the stature of a top-tier rapper in the making. He’s incredibly talented, and his recently-released EP 5 O’Clock Shadow made it clear that he has a story to tell, with much more of the story still to be written. I firmly believe that Jimi is bound for glory, and if you’re still skeptical, give 5OCS a few spins and you’ll be up to speed.
