The Game Is The Game

The game is the game and what I mean by that is to have the sheer willingness to play in something like this, you have to be insane. So many different egos and personalities run through this court of nonsense, but those who remain are here for the music and only that. It’s easy to get distracted by the noise outside, but with a new year comes a new opportunity for ourselves. And as creatives to strive forward with new energy and put on the blinders to the nonsense. Below are three cuts from artists with sheer talent and potential to tap in with. Be well, stay safe and I’ll get out of your way with my rambling.

Michal Michal – Calm b4 the storm

Michal is making his third appearance on our pages but it’s not for some fluke by any means. It’s because the music is getting better and better with every drop. Consistent quality tunes from a rising name is sure to catch any well-seasoned ear, but what keeps us around is his unique tonality. This isn’t what you’d expect to hear from an Austin, Texas artist, but it’s quite refreshing to say the very least. With the production handled by a true rising phenom, 5heriff, whose credits include D Savage and Lil Candy Paint to name a few, there’s no wonder why you’ll be running this back after the first listen. Michal Michal is a name to know for 2024, don’t get left behind.

AYEPlus – One Night Stand

AYEPlus is a DMV-bred artist making his first appearance on our pages today and his sound is a vibrant breath of fresh air. Not only does it possess a soulful element that draws in the ear immediately, but his poignant cadence accents the electric moment. With brags and boasts atop the percussive elements, this clean yet simplistic set of visuals melds incredibly well with the music. AYEPlus is making some noise aside from the usual DC sound, and it’s completely his own. Bro is onto something, don’t sleep on the gas above.

JoshFromThaBlock – Lit

From a small town near Atlanta, JoshFromThaBlock caught the early attention of labels. Ending the year with “Lit,” he showcases a unique flow and polished delivery. Poised for a big 2024, the video, directed by 8BlockENT, presents Josh in harmony with nature, radiating energy. You might feel as if this styling is similar to the notable names from Atlanta, but instead of a plain mimic, it provides a refreshing route of creativity steered elsewhere. With infectious energy, the cinematic experience of the video amplifies Josh and what he’s trying to accomplish in the game. With a few more steps, JoshFromThaBlock will be in your rotation, get hip.
