My buddies Joey and Henry here at DC have been bringing you a weekly roundup of some of the dopest songs out for some weeks now, and this week I decided to pick up the torch and do a special edition of The Weekly Detox.
I’m a huge fan of hip-hop living in the DMV, and frankly am spoiled with all the talent around here. Yeah, yeah. Everyone has homies that rap and are “good,” but these guys are fuckin’ legit.
There are three collectives that are making raucous noise out of the area, and they are Kool Klux Klan, GramFam and CHESS. United they stand as After F, and are gearing up for a massive takeover. This past week they decided to give fans a treat with #AfterFWeek; an entire five days filled with new music from the lads.
It literally seemed like everyone said “fuck it, let’s drop some of the best music we’ve ever made this week.”
While you may not see many names on these tracks, their friends’ fingerprints are all over ’em; they’re always sharing music with each other and growing together as artists, constantly bouncing ideas off each other and pushing one other to be better.
As someone who is lucky enough to not only be a fan, but work personally with a few of these guys, it’s really awesome to see them develop and only grow more hungry for success. You can hear it in their music; they live, breathe and eat this music shit, and it’s that authenticity mixed with their tremendous talent that makes them such an exciting wave of artists.
