Trinidadian-born New York rapper and singer, Theophilus London’s, last full length release was in 2014 so it is exciting to see a new project finally come to fruition 4 years later. There are a couple notable things that make NIGHTS B4 BEBEY stand out from your typical mixtapes, the most crucial being the way London incorporated several “previews” and “teasers” from his upcoming album into the new project. It’s an unusual, yet effective tactic because curiosity is instantly sparked upon hearing the new sounds coming from the 31 year old artist. We get everything from house to trap to R&B to funk and that doesn’t even do the project justice because the special touch is London’s ability to morph all these sounds into one extremely danceable, cohesive project. Another unique characteristic of the project is the amount of diverse credited features including the likes of CeeLo and Dev Hynes (Blood Orange).
