Yes, you heard that right.

The government of the United States wants to triple its own production of marijuana. I know this might sound very strange — in a nation where federal agents continue to target medical marijuana crimes — but the DEA is asking to triple the federal government’s annual pot output.

The reason for more federal weed grown at the University of Mississippi is the result of “unanticipated medical, scientific, research, and industrial needs of the United States,” the DEA says.

“The adjustment is necessary to provide for the estimated medical, scientific, research, and industrial needs of the United States, lawful export requirements, and the establishment and maintenance of reserve stocks,” the DEA says.

NORML has said in an official statement that this marks the second time in a row the DEA has asked increase the output of the controversial plant.

Well, at least somethings seem right.
