Recently, authorities made their way to the annual pot rally in Vancouver known as Cannabis Day, which led to multiple arrests — 4 to be exact. Just last month, a cease-and-desist letter was released asking that the event be delayed due to the fact that it hadn’t attained the proper permits.

The people running the rally apparently disregarded the warning, stating that the event was a protest and not a festival, proclaiming that this is the first time in the 20-year history of Cannabis Day that any conflict with Vancouver authorities has taken place. Here’s what Jodi — the head organizer of the rally — had to say in response to Vancouver’s police force:

The city has been so tolerant before. I don’t understand where this is coming from.

In fact, Cannabis Day event planners even met with city officials in order to synchronize a safety procedure plan. Here’s what Jodi said about the past year’s events:

In recent years police have come to help us set up and then they stand back and they smile and wave at passersby. (But) for some reason the city has chosen to be confrontational and create an enormous problem where there never has been one before.
