A couple weeks ago, the Virginia Senate voted to pass legislation that would finally allow those suffering with severe epilepsy to legally possess and use a highly-concentrated form of hash oil from the marijuana plant.
Now that the state’s Senate has made their decision on the matter, Senate Bill 1235, the bill will now be shuffled over to the House of Delegates for further legislative examination, before it can get its official release. So, if these pieces of legislation are indeed successful, it’s likely he’ll sign the bills into law.
If the bill is deemed successful, the patients in question would have to provide a valid written certification issued by a practitioner of medicine or osteopathy licensed by the state’s Board of Medicine — to make sure the purpose is alleviating a patient’s symptoms of epilepsy.
Furthermore, Senate Bill 1235 will feature “emergency clause” that kicks in once the bill is approved so patients won’t have to wait for the bill to take effect in order to reap its benefits. Yay for weed!
