This past August the indisputable top clique in Tampa baited the masses with a sole single from their upcoming project thebluetape. For “Watchmen” the minds that occupy West Egg enlisted regional representatives Scott Aye and Hometown Hero to match wits on the peculiar instrumental produced by the group’s leader Gatsby. The result is a showcase of Bay area bar flexing, and a noteworthy introduction to the depth of the West Coast Florida rap talent pool. Set on enhancing the standout track while fans anticipate the mixtape release in November, West Egg teamed up with budding director Pablo Vasquez once again on this symbolism filled visual. Shot over three days in between downtown Orlando and the industrial district of Tampa, a black and white filter depicts the crew raging against the societal mechanisms of modern communication and it’s resulting affinity for surveillance of the masses. There are also dramatic depictions of things on fire, random cop cars, and an anonymous female in a Vader mask setting off a fire extinguisher, if you are into that kind of thing. Now with yet another legitimate visual and the final touches going into the thebluetape as this is written, look out for West Egg to make their break during the closing months of 2012.
