Yasiin Bey has delivered an update to his current state of affairs by way of Kanye West.
If you’ve been unaware up to now, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) has recently been detained in South Africa, due to the fact that the South African government believes he was trying to travel using false documents. Their government took issue with Yasiin’s World Passport, which is not a false nor fraudulent document.
Thankfully, Kanye West assisted his friend Yasiin, by letting him take over kanyewest.com to give an update on his current situation. Bey discusses why he believes he’s being held in SA, how he & his family peacefully wishes to leave the state, announces he’s releasing his last album/retiring from music after & drops a freestyle called “No More Parties In S.A.” aimed at the South African government. Hearing this message lowered my spirits a bit, because Mr. Bey left the United States due to his distaste of the treatment African descendants & people who look like him continue to unjustly receive, and it seems as though hard times keep catching up with him.
The message is of length, but definitely worth listening to so click here to play it. Also, click here to read a full statement dispelling media rumors about what really happened to Yasiin, from Bey’s close friend and confidant Ferarri Sheppard. Peace and much love to Yasiin Bey, we hope that everything is resolved soon and that you & your family’s wishes are fulfilled.
