Emerging producer 10Fifty has made a name for himself this year. Linking with the likes of Lil Gotit and producing some of his biggest hits. As he ends the year on a high with producing multiple songs on Gotit’s debut album Hood Baby, 10Fifty joins us on the “Making Movies” Vol. 1 mixtape to contribute his talents. I had the pleasure to talk with Fifty and get to know him a little more. Read our interview below and check out 10Fifty’s work.

Q: In your early career, you’ve got tracks with the likes of Lil Gotit, Lil Keed, Gunna, and more to come. What do those accomplishments mean to you?
A: It means everything to me. To be able to get my first few placements with some of the hottest up and coming artists in Atlanta and a world renown star in Gunna was the biggest blessing in my young career so far. Obviously, that opened the doors to many other opportunities to work with a bunch of new artists and producers, but I’ll forever be grateful for being able to link with Gotit and the Keed early on in their come ups and grow as they did too.
Q: More on you and Gotit, how did that come about and meeting each other? Any more music from you two?
A: A good friend of mine works very closely with Lil Gotit and had me send beats to him early on – I’d say around April or May of this year. A few weeks later, Gotit dropped the video for “All Season,” to my beat, which was his first official solo release in a long time, we chopped it up over a FaceTime, and the rest is history. We were finally able to meet in person for the first time in NYC back in July, and since then we’ve only been going up, and there’s plenty more on the way. The kid is an absolute superstar.
Q: As a producer, what do you look for in a artist that you work with or potentially will work with?
A: Even though it sounds kind of cliche, one of the main things I look for in an artist is the ability to turn something into nothing. For example, sometimes as a producer you’ll be making a beat you’re not even sure sounds that fire but send it to an artist anyway, and that artist will send you a track back with a hit made over that same beat. That’s something I saw in Gotit after hearing just a few of the songs he did when we first started working, and to this day, I’m a firm believer I can send him any type of beat and it’ll be a smash, and that’s the ultimate jackpot for a producer working closely with another artist.
Q: What are early influences that molded your music, lyrics and style?
A: Eminem, Jimi Hendrix, Slipknot, most classic rock, nu metal, and early rap.
Q: Who and what do you listen to now?
A: Comethazine, City Morgue, Gunna
Q: What are some of the collaborations that have shaped your career?
A: My first ever production placement, which was with Yung Bans, and then Lil Gotit and Gunna’s “Superstar.”
Q: Who would you like to work with in the future?
A: Juice Wrld and eventually Kendrick Lamar
Q: What are your goals as an artist when it’s all said and done?
A: Make enough money for me and my future family to live comfortably.
Q: What goes into your decision to select and record over a beat?
A: As a producer, it’s important to flex your A&R prowess and know exactly what beats to send an artist.
Q: Tell us how you feel about being features on the Daily Chiefers x Red Bull Music mixtape.
A: It really is amazing just based on the fact that I used to frequently submit my music to Chiefers as an artist and now I’m suddenly part of something way bigger under the same brand, so everything really came full circle.
Q: What does the future hold for you? What are your plans for the next 6-12 months?
A: Working heavily with Lil Gotit, as he continues to be one of the hottest young rappers in the Atlanta.
