West Coast Rap is synonymous with some of the most vivid storytelling in all of Rap. Vivid pictures are no foreign thought to Compton rapper YS, whose seemingly painting his own picture of LA Rap.
YS is back sliding on more production from former collaborator Helluva, and this time he grabbed Louisville’s rising star, EST Gee. Like many to come before him, YS meshes almost soothing vocals on his hooks right before he punches you in the face with his verses. The contrast of his singing on his hooks, and EST Gee‘s commanding, unsparing bars is worth noting. 20-year-old YS and Helluva have a hell of a connection, the pair sampled Zapp & Roger’s “Cannon” back in August, and they’re getting ready to release the newest project from YS titled Realer than Real which is produced entirely by Helluva. A connection like this only comes ever so often, and listening to their collaborations you can tell that the pair just make sense together.
A duo that transcends mere collaborations is what makes music such a beautiful thing, two artists who work together for the adoration for one another craft could honestly bring tears to a guy like myself’s eyes. Peep the gas below.
