North Carolina seems to be one of the modern era hot beds for the mental muscle in well conceived production. For this short but strong beat album Castle steps away from the mic completely in order to deliver 13 one after the other riders. Oh, Far Out is effortlessly powerful on the choir-turned-funk bass “She Still Love The La,” which continues a theme set during “Tendered,” and gets slow motion souled out on the sting string/piano chop anthem “Mr. Popular.” Always floating above, but settling into nod pockets when necessary, moments like the reaching experimentation of “Sho Thang” and the self-explanatory motif of “I Can See The Range” make this a must spin for all beat junkies. Twist one and stream the entire Mello Music Group release after the jump.
