Childish Gambino is one of the greatest artists of our generation. Not only can Gambino act, write, rap, sing and produce, he also does this with a humble attitude. In short, he’s an inspiring creative.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Gambino decided to break down his creative process. Gambino prefers to be creative when he’s at home –like most musicians/artists. He says he has an empty room allows him to expand his imagination, allowing true solitude to take over.
“I wake up every morning and I start grabbing things — spray-painting the walls, recording, writing,” said Gambino. “They’re all connected for me. It’s all about trying to get to the bottom of what being a human is.”
He also went on to talk about how hard it is to separate his emcee life with his acting life. He said, “I don’t separate things, all my ideas bleed into each other.” He also spent a good portion sharing his thoughts on how painter Salvador Dali was an immense inspiration to him. “I wrote a postcard to myself that said, ‘Never forget Dali.’ He would paint, do sculpture, architecture, film, photography.”
This would explain why he never wants to be considered a “rapper.” The whole interview dope so check it out when you’re done. Roll up!
