Potholes In My Blog published a new interview with upcoming New York rapper, Dyme-A-Duzin, who has recently took a break from his group, Phony Ppl, to take his solo career to the next level. After kicking off the year with A Portrait Of Donnovan, the young artist is prepping for his second release of the year with “Body On Me” serving as the first single.  In this written interview, Dyme-A-Duzin speaks on Plain Pat, high school with Joey Bada$$ and Capital STEEZ, what it means having STEEZ on his mixtape, his upcoming Hip Hope mixtape, and more.  Read an excerpt of the interview after the jump.

In retrospect, what does it mean to you to have Capital STEEZ (may he rest in peace) on your mixtape?

Wow… I never even thought about it like that. That he’s on the last record that I released, and that was one of the last projects he was on. I remember hanging out with Steez everyday in high school, and him being the lyrical genius that he is. I didn’t even realize how much of a genius he was until I got older, until recently. I always looked at him as a peer,
because–and a lot of people don’t know this–Steez never rapped aloud before he met me. Steez brought me his raps, asking for my opinion. I watched him grow, and we grew together. I love that dude, that’s my boy, and I still miss him. It’s an honor to have him on my project, and he was one of the first people I talked to about having them feature. The fact that he featured, that we did a video for it and that it’s there forever? That’s special. That’s so dope to me.
