With Fiend’s last release Wrapping Papers EP we saw six tracks take his fervent No Limit approach and blend it with a newly honed, Jet Life inspired laid back smoothness in flow and delivery. The combination is a testament to growth and evolution from an artist that has been rocking mics just as long as the modern OGs, but he has somehow avoided reversion to lame gimmicks and musicless capital enterprise traps in order to uphold rare integrity in the game. Also never forgetting his home of New Orleans, Fiend first paid tribute to the realities of his hometown on the organ-laced audio-visual pairing “Corner Store.” He has now followed it up by giving the same treatments to banger “Spit Rocks.” Director David G approached the aggressive snare-driven bass cut with a day in the life of shot approach that is as raw as the track. Literally always on his grind, Fiend also announced a tour that will stretch all the way out to Colorado on March 1st, and his next mixtape The Big Shots, featuring verses from Trademark and J Dollas, and production from Monsta Beatz, Koe Adams, All For One, and YK beats, will drop as soon as Feb. 15th.
