Static by 99 Neighbors

Static is an over-the-top banger with industrial bars and great flows. The looming bass sets a strong backdrop for the rap ensemble to get off some of their most creative wordplay. This is my first time hearing 99 Neighbors over production like this, and I think this is an exciting direction. It’s very much reminiscent of the Orlando rap group seeeyousoon. I’m intrigued to see if this is the direction they will take on further releases, but only time can tell!

Threat by Rex Orange County

With some aro-beats-inspired rhythms and Rex Orange County’s distinct style, “Threat” is easily a summer smash. Rex talks about hoping this new guy isn’t a threat to his relationship. Comparing himself to this other guy and not knowing if he’s good enough for this girlfriend., I love the harmonies used, and the engineering on the record is insane. This guy has been on a crazy run and continues to push the envelope.

I’m So Gone by Tate McRae (ft 347aidan)

Tate McRae is a bonified popstar, and “I’m So Gone” is easily one of my favorite records I’ve heard from her. I love the duality that 347aidan brings to the record as well. I always enjoy these chill pop records more than the overly produced singles. They have an air of intimacy, and it feels like the artists are spilling their feelings out. Tate does a great job being relatable in honest in her songwriting on this record.

Love Ya by Shoffy

“Love Ya” is one of these dance-inspired pop bangers, and it’s great. Shoffy has something with his record; the production is clean and bouncy. I particularly love the drum pattern on the breakdowns; I could imagine this playing in a movie’s party scene. The lyricism is also fantastic and refreshing. This is an excellent release from Shoffy.

Caffeine by Kaelin & The Kount

Kaelin and The Kount are two of the finest producers out right now. “Caffeine” is a crazy combination of futuristic hip-hop production and soulful percussion. Even though the song is only a minute long, it has a lot of depth and intricacies that make for an enjoyable listening experience.

radio.fm by Saiah

Saiah has been an artist that I find myself excited about. There’s so much creative potential, and I see a bright future coming their way. “radio.fm” is an indie/bedroom-pop record that gives very beachy vibes. At times it reminds me of Jaden Smith’s latest releases. I think it’s an absolute banger, and I would love a visual for the song!
