LumberJack by Tyler The Creator
Tyler is back and explosive on his newest single, “LumberJack”. On this record, we get some braggadocious bars from the Grammy Winner. Talking about all of his accolades from the past years and how he can afford the finest things money can buy. The music video is insane, but that’s to be expected for Tyler The Creator. I’m just geeked to get a new album from him next week.
Drugs N Hella Melodies by Don Toliver ft Kali Uchis
Don Toliver connected with Kali Uchies on the smooth and sensual “Drugs N Hella Melodies”. This record is as remarkable as you would think it would be. With sweet vocal lines coming from Toliver and Uchis, the chemistry there is undeniable.
Law of Averages by Vince Staples
“Law of Averages” is an account of Vince’s psyche. The clunky soulful production lays the backdrop for some thought-provoking bars. With a run time of 2 minutes, it leaves you wanting more from the record. I’m excited to see if he continues this sound on his subsequent releases.
Headshots by Isaiah Rashad
Another day and another new single from Isaiah Rashad; “Headshots” is a departure from his last single, trading the uptempo trap-styled production for more laidback. This record is very reminiscent of many of the records off of The Sun’s Tirade, and I feel this will quiet a lot of his die-hard fans. I like both singles he’s dropped this year.
Midnight Charm by Jenevieve
Jenevieve keeps getting better with every release, and I’m super into “Midnight Charm”. This is a fun record about blossoming love and intimacy. The production is upbeat, and the hook is catchy as fuck. Making “Midnight Charm” the perfect summer song!
3time by Something New
Something New is more hungry than ever on his new record “3time”. This is a lyrical exercise for this wordsmith, and he has killer flows. Acrobat through bars and showcasing his thesaurus-like vocabulary, I feel like this is something you should check out!
