Las Vegas, Nevada is here. That’s right, I’m putting my foot down and planting the flag for us. Over the last 3-years, we’ve started a growing buzz around the city due to the combination of lighter laws on concerts, as well as generated interest from other regions about our audience and market size. Through this, the talented has been quietly progressing and 2020 has been one hell of a year, already. With releases from natives like Impact RH, Richie Bux and Papichuloteej reaching the masses, the city has been energized and the soundtrack to the madness has been great. Looking to join the fun, Sin City staple rapper, Big Homie Stone comes out of the shadows with his largely anticipated album, Must Be God.
At 12-tracks and only one featured artist, Must Be God is an album is every sense of the word. Harnessing the tribulation that he’s faced the last few years dealing with jail, fatherhood, the music business and more, Stone raps with a conviction and bare-all attitude that you don’t hear from younger artists everyday. With the way the project is broken down sonically, it feels like it’s split into 3-parts.
The first part is broken down into the first four songs, which feature Stone doing the most rapping he does all project, highlighted by the booty anthem, “Don’t Stop.” The second part is where the emotion comes in, as, “Hate Me,” “Love Yourself” and “Hurt 2 Love” all simultaneously run together and tell the all-too-familiar story of the progression of love, and how it can alter you as a person.
Following that run, he gives us more of a fun vibe on the next 3-records, highlighted by, “Once.” Featuring Impact RH and produced by Will Stellar, “Once” is a hit if I’ve ever heard one, as Impact and Stone bounce clever and nasty lyrics off one another over the incredibly infectious production from Stellar. Rounding out the project with, “Seven Strings,” and “Revenge,” Stone spends the last two records being hopeful for the future, and predicting his inevitable ascension.
Serving as one of two big releases to come out of Vegas this past weekend, Must Be God is without a doubt a must listen. Take a peek at the project below and get familiar with Big Homie Stone.
