The Art Of Being Happy by Lucas
Lucas has been on a hell of a run with the music and video combination. Curtailing a successful year of releases, we get the intimate record “Art Of Being Happy”. This record evaluates the listeners to see if they are making themselves happy. Life can get hard with all the pressures around each corner, but You are the only thing that can make you happy. Lucas excels at giving optimistic hope in his lyricism and the fun video! Excited to see what is next for this blossoming creative!
Pan Out by Chase Murphy (ft Malik Elijah)
“Pan Out” is a hard-hitting record with some clean flows and lyrical acrobatics from Chase Murphy. The cadences he catches are some of his best to date, and since stepping into the visual realm, his production value has shot through the roof. Malik Elijah makes a statement with his guest feature and adds a nice dynamic element to the record. 10 out of 10 record!
Holdin On by Zack Fox
Zack Fox just dropped an EP for the aunties and uncles. “Holdin On” is an 80’s slow jam with great melodies and beautiful synths. This is a curve ball from his prior work, but it’s been done with excellent execution. The production on this record is so nostalgic; I could hear my parents bumping this on Sunday while cleaning. Zack Fox outdid himself on this record!
Take Me Home by PinkPanthress
If you didn’t know, I’m a huge PinkPanthress fan. “Take Me Home” is the Christmas gift I needed this holiday season! The last of dropping three singles, I find this record to be one of the most unique. I love the punchy drums on this record and the smooth pads. It allows her voice to pop through the mix, making it the song’s centerpiece! It’s less liquid drum and bass and more alternative pop, but I love it! Take a listen below!
Florida by Junior Varsity
Junior Varisty just dropped a beautiful intimate record, “Florida”. The lyricism transports you to the keys of Florida and the songwriter’s personal experience. The tonality of the vocal feels as if he’s singing right in your ear. “I found quiet in you” is such a powerful line, and I’ve been relating to it heavily these past weeks. This is some next-level shit!
Who Even Cares by Little Simz
I feel like this week; I’ve been digging synthy music. “Who Even Cares” is another cut that takes influence from 80’s Psych-R&B. Little Simz brings it back to a past place but also refreshes it with some Auto-tune laced bars. It’s an exciting record that I would think would work on paper, but in the application, it’s beautiful. Check out this record if you want to challenge what you think music can be!
Porcelain Queen by Cannon
Cannon has a beautiful record with “Porcelain Queen”. This is an incredibly vulnerable record discussing his parent’s relationship and wanting to see them together but coming to terms with his mother moving into a new marriage. I don’t know how one elegantly discusses this topic, but I praise this budding musician. I find this one of the most heartwarming songs I’ve heard in a long ass time! WOW! I’m blown away!
