It’s 2021, and Pop-Punk is coming back in a significant way. Tuxx’s single “Contaminate” pushes the resurgence of this sub-genre and gives it a nice facelift for the current time. This record has a strong, plucky guitar riff that brings me back to the early 2000’s. However, the percussion in the record is more reminiscent of the current themes in mainstream hip-hop. It weirdly feels like the past and the present all at once.
The lyrical cadence and harmonies are what make the song for me. Tuxx’s vocals have a boyish charm to them and resonate with my fleeting adolescents. Most of the performance we get laid back lyrics centered around the shift of perception or the young mind being contaminated by negative influences/situations. This is a dope record, check it out below!
