Baton Rouge artist, Wakai, recently came out with his track “Ain’t Enuff“, the follow-up single to his head-turning project To a Dark Boy. With To a Dark Boy being one of my favorite projects of this year, this single really got me excited for what’s to come next from the budding artist. I see that project as a classic in the making, and following up strongly with “Ain’t Enuff“, Wakai is clearly here to stay. The work ethic and craftsmanship behind everything he puts out into the world are unmatched, and having the opportunity to experience it first-hand has only led to me enjoying the music even more. His tracks have a way of feeling like films, incomparable to many others, maybe this stems from his background as a film major or maybe it’s his fluid deliveries and hypnotic beat selection allowing listeners to truly get lost in the melodies.
The track was also accompanied by an amazing visual, something Wakai has clearly taken pride in with past releases, and this one is directed by a common collaborator, Ransom, this may be my favorite visual project from the two. The track also features another up-and-coming artist, Ronday, who delivers a stunning hook that really ties the track together. Wakai has proven time and time again he’s serious about his craft and is only going to continue elevating this sound he’s cultivated starting from some of his earliest releases, so be sure to check out the video for “Ain’t Enuff”, and if you haven’t already his most recent project To a Dark Boy.
