To capture the alluring essence that’s pleated into Anycia‘s husky, bewitching baritone vocals, look no further than the visuals for Popstar Benny‘s produced record “So What.” Her cadence is numbingly methodical and attention-giving; she immersed herself into every word, every syllable, stimulating all angst, “I might love you, but I don’t need no man” and substituting them with a yearning for something just as fulfilling, “Tryna fuck you on the jet/get it wet that’s the goal.” all said with a wily smile and heady gaze. There’s more texture on here than on “Anycia.” Stuttering drum patterns and whirly synths over a classic sample is the perfect background for her smoky voice to billow through the music. She’s mesmerizing; the reason why strikes from a bible are used to fend off temptation.
