Upon my first listen to this record, I knew this was a remarkable work. Finn Harry shows his prowess and understanding of music, allowing him to be wildly inventive on “SPLIT THE POWER”. The first thing that takes me back is the production; handled by Finn himself, he recontextualizes a very jazz drum rhythm for an Anti-Pop banger. This gives the track, in essence, a feel of neo-soul before the lush guitars are introduced. I find it amazing how he manages to create beautiful arrangements and paces the track allowing for a continual payoff, satisfying the listener.

Lyrically, Finn finds himself in a place where he doesn’t want to give up the creative control of his life. “Don’t be looking so mad, That I’m a do this shit without ya. I don’t want to split the power.” This highlights the ethos and is further examined in each of the verses. The songwriting is unique to his perspective, giving him a defined voice, which is hard to come by as a newer act. The stellar track is complemented by a visual where you get to see Finn playing the guitar in a red-lit room. This guy is exceptional, and I’m excited to see what his next moves are!
