Mati‘s breezy new banger “Please Don’t Tempt Me” is the track that I’m currently rolling a blunt while listening to and is easily one of my favorites from the past week. The 21-year-old’s gentle vocals and illustrative writing style make for a really nice cut to just sit back and relax.
The Minneapolis native by way of Ethiopia has been honing his craft for the last six years, despite “Please Don’t Tempt Me” being just his third track on DSPs. 2021’s “Sweet Life” and “Back to the Basics” have a similar vibe to the most recent track but Mati has clearly sharpened every aspect of his game even in the short span of six or seven months.
