Philadelphia’s rap scene is one of great history and innovation since its inception but over the past decade has transformed into one of the most prominent outposts for music in the world, boasting dozens of artists who have impacted mainstream music and its sound in one way or another. The past few years particularly have seen the city of Brotherly Love burst out in profile and size, with several bonafide mainstream stars and a surplus of underground talent waiting to grace music’s main stage, and perhaps my favorite of the whole bunch is T$AN whose Farewell EP etched his name into the scene’s consciousness back in 2020 and since has worked tirelessly to further evolve and perfect his unique sound that first garnered popularity amidst comparisons and even snippets of music with another Philadelphian, Lil Uzi Vert. His latest visual for his track “Wasted” serves as a reminder of sorts to those who may have forgotten about his immense talent and charisma ahead of his debut independent mixtape release which is on its way for this spring. I am sure that this track will do very well at all of his shows and from the second the beat drops it is destined to get a crowd moving, and I look forward to seeing all that T$AN has in store for 2022.
