In the last month or so Nashville, Tennessee rapper, TeamLilStraw, has gradually turned me into a fan. Kicking it off with his “50/50,” video that was released at the end of 2019, I was interested to see how he would follow the hype up. Deciding to jump off of the porch and join the ranks, he releases his impressive new EP, Cautious.
At only 6-tracks and 18-minutes long, Cautious is incredibly short in time, but gives us just enough content to make us want more. Utilizing his aforementioned lead single as the intro, Straw also officially releases buzzing tracks like, “Extra” and “John Wick,” to streaming platforms for the first time. This gave his fans a total of 3 new songs and 3 familiar ones, a smart formula for such a small project. As for the new records, I would have to say, “Reason” is my favorite. Produced by TnTXD, the record showcases Straw’s incredibly melodic ability, as well as his infectious ability to always stay in pocket.
With his status growing slowly, but surely, it’s only a matter of time before TeamLilStraw breaks through the region, and starts to scale nationally. Until then, enjoy Cautious, below.
